McCormack's stock rising daily as big clubs join the chase?

Ross McCormack could make a sharp exit and even sharper return to Elland Road with both Wolves and Blackburn being linked with the strikers signature.

As they are both our first two home opponents for the forthcoming season, the odds on McCormack lining up at Elland Road in the opening weeks of the season could be a possibility.

Neil Warnock revealed on Friday there have been enquiries for last-seasons top-scorer, interest so far has rumoured to have come from Huddersfield, Bristol City and Crystal Palace with a fee of around £800,000 mooted.

At the end of last season, bigger clubs such as Wigan and West Ham were linked with McCormack but this has since cooled. I doubt McCormack would make it in the Premiership anyway, he does not have the pace and would not get the tie and space he thrives on in the Championship.

But with Wolves and Blackburn being the next best thing to agreeing a sensible compromise with Leeds, then hopefully a bit of an auction scenario will develop to push his value up a bit.

I suspect like Adam Clayton, McCormack does not figure strongly enough in Warnock's plans for him to try and put the brake on his departure until the t- word goes through and better terms may be offered. I suspect wily Warnock has already got McCormack's transfer fee "spent" on bringing in two or three other signings and with most clubs now back from their summer breaks, I expect McCormack will be on his way within the next fortnight.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
