Dale Trust 5-a-side competition

Rochdale Supporters Trust is offering you the chance to show off your football skills in front of Rochdale management duo Keith Hill and David Flitcroft.

The Trust is hosting a 5-a-side tournament to raise funds for the Bowlee training ground project and Factor 50, the skin cancer charity which was supported by former Rochdale midfielder Ernie Cooksey, and Hill and Flitcroft could be lining up in your team.

The event will be held at the Soccer Factory on Edinburgh Way, near Tesco, on Sunday 1 November, starting at 3pm.

The Dale management duo are pledging their support for the event and to be in with a chance of playing alongside them you need to make sure your team puts in a bid in our unique auction.

Put your football skills to the test and raise vital funds for two very worthy causes. Entry costs £30 per squad of eight players maximum.

To enter your team send your team's name, your secretary or manager's name and a contact telephone number to Keith Hicks at the Community Office at Rochdale AFC, Sandy Lane, Rochdale, OL11 5DR, along with a £10 deposit for your team, or you can provide your team's details and the deposit at one of the Trust desks in either the Dale Bar or Studds before the home game against Accrington on Saturday 24 October. Please make cheques payable to 'Rochdale Supporters Trust'.

Once your team has been entered for the tournament you can start to bid to have Hilly or Flickers on your side. Talks are ongoing with a number of other 'Dale celebrities' and as soon as we have more details we will let you know which other former Dale players will also be available for auction. The teams that place the highest bids will go into a draw alongside the big names to see who will be joining you for the afternoon.

Obviously your squad can pay the £30 entry fee alone and there's a chance you will come up against a Dale celeb at some point during the day, but the only way to guarantee yourself an afternoon with a Dale legend is to bid to have them on your team.

Once your team has entered the tournament you can start bidding. Email your team name and your bid, minimum £40, to kfinan@daletrust.org.uk, to be in with a chance of winning. The closing date for bids is Thursday 29 October at 6pm. We will inform you before the day of the tournament if your bid has been successful. Please note that the remainder of your team's entry fee plus your successful bid money must be paid on the day of the tournament, before kick off.

There will be trophies and medals for both the winners of the tournament and the runners-up.

Dale Trust board member Keith Hicks said: “This promises to be a superb afternoon's football, raising money for two excellent causes. I'd like to encourage all Dale fans to get their mates together and form a team for what will be a competitive and fun afternoon of five-a-side.”
