Warnock looks to add defender as old boy links up with Dad
Neil Warnock today confirmed Leeds are keen to add to the growing ex Pompey boys network by adding Martin Crainie to the squad, meanwhile Alex Bruce has linked-up with his Dad at Hull City.
Crainie has clearly impressed Warnock, who sees him as a valuable addition to a rebuilt defence following a successful trial at the club where the ex Coventry player took part in our tour of the South West.
Providing Leeds and Crainie can agree terms, he will be another Pompey old boy on our books along with Andy O'Brien, Michael Brown, Jason Pearce, Luke Varney, Jamie Ashdown and David Norris! Seven in total!
Meanwhile much travelled Alex Bruce, who as far as I know never played for Portsmouth has linked up with his Dad Steve at Hull City.
Leeds released the 27-year-old at the end of the season despite him returning to the first team when Warnock succeeded Simon Grayson. I rated Bruce as a useful squad player and could not understand why Leeds offered injury-prone liability Paddy Kisnorbo a new deal and not Alex!
Hull are one of my dark horses for next season, Bruce senior usually makes an impact wherever he goes and I quite fancy him lifting a side who performed so well under Nick Barmby into the play-off places.
