The penny drops as Warnock recalls Poleon

Neil Warnock has obviously realised that there will be no funds available to bring in any more loanees, so he has done the right thing and recalled Dominic Poleon from Bury as Ross McCormack is not 100% to face the club he nearly signed for on Saturday, Crystal Pakace.

McCormack has a useful thirty minute run-out against Millwall on Sunday but just hours after extending Dominic Poleon's loan at Bury, Warnock has activated a 24 hour release clause which will see the 19 year old Londoner back at Elland Road in good time to face the high flying Eagles.

Poleon's surprise return also clearly indicates that Warnock has been told there are no funds to bring in any more loan signings before Thursday's emergency loan deadline meaning he will have to make do until January at the earliest and then hope the takeover fiasco is sorted out by the New Year.

I am looking forward to seeing Poleon again on Saturday. I was surprised when Warnock sent him and Zac Thompson out to lowly Bury managed by our former boss Kevin Blackwell, himself hardly an advocate of total football. McCormack needs to be eased back in gently, it was always a tall order to expect Rosco to repeat his heroics of March at the New Den last March on Sunday.

In Poloens absence we have seen Becchio lose his form, Diouf played upfront where I think he is not effective and the hapless Luke Varney. One good thing about Varney's red card is he will miss our next three games!

Let's hope Poleon's pace will boost our chances of pulling off a shock against the Eagles and having found the net a respectable three times in eight whilst at Gigg Lane, he may even grab another goal to add to he winner he scored against Forest in September.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
