Ross United....Leeds 1 Bristol City 0

It was the tale of not one but two Ross's at a freezing cold Elland Road, one Ross (Barkley) crossed for another (McCormack) to head home the winner it was largely was a forgettable afternoon of football.

Luciano Becchio's return to the starting eleven barely registered the crowd from their slumber and there were no emotion filled pleas from those assembled to try and persuade the Argentine to turn his head back towards LS11.

It was not surprising that the away fans arrived in just two coaches having endured horrendous weather from the south-west to see Sean O'Driscoll take his Bristolian bow.

I thought we shaded the first 20 minutes possession wise, however the only threat came when Heaton fumbled a shot from Barkley but gained recomposure before McCormack could pounce.

City settled into a slick passing routine, much of it instigated by former whites' favourite Neil Kilkenny who put in several telling probing balls a better side may have made more off. Paddy Kenny however was forced into making a double handed save from Ryan Taylor. Earlier Cole Skuse had shot wide from 15 yards.

Leeds had to wait until the 37th minute to see their side muster their first serious shot on target and even then El Hadji Diouf shot high over Heaton's cross bar. Although the atmosphere was not as poisonous than at Oakwell last weekend, I did hear a murmur of "Shot on target. We're on the pitch!", "We're shit and we're sick of it" and there was some booing at the half-time whistle.

The second half started with Kenny making another terrific save, cutting away Sam Byram's slice from Foster's cross, had that gone in it may have sparked some angst from the stands who were probably frozen into silence.

To give Warnock's men some credit, they did start to show some more endeavour and passing movement, it seemed the most likely source would come down the right, Byram catching the eye with a mazy run into the box in particular. However it would be another teenager, albeit one from Merseyside, who created the winner. Barkley's precision cross found the head of McCormack who deserves credit for out jumping Foster and planting a head past Heaton's grasp for the decider.

It was more than enough to sink rock-bottom City and most of the crowd were more concerned about being exposed to frostbite than Leeds falling to a late equaliser. I did hear a couple of "Warnock time to go" and "Warnock Out" chants but I do have some sympathy with the Leeds boss, a rare clean sheet, our sixth home league win in a row and Tottenham in the FA Cup to take our minds off what seems mission impossible to scramble into sixth place.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
