Adkins in pole position to replace Grayson at Huddersfield

Nigel Adkins has emerged as the front-runner to succeed Simon Grayson after the former Leeds Manager was sacked by Huddersfield Town.

Our friendly neighbours from Kirklees called-time on Grayson's reign on Thursday, less than a year after he took over at whatever daft name they call their ground these days and led them to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

Their Chairman Dean Hoyle said he was "grateful" for Grayson's efforts but results had alarmingly "tailed-off" (I'm sure there is a dog related pun in there somewhere). No league wins in 12 matches have plunged Huddersfield back towards League One,they now lie in 18th just seven points clear of the relegation places.

Grayson was always going to be on a hiding to nothing in some respects at Huddersfield given his connections with us and many Leeds fans, myself included, will feel a great deal of sympathy towards him as he faces the dole queue for the second winter running.

Huddersfield's Development Squad coach Mark Lillis has been put in temporary charge of the first-team and is expected to be in charge when Leicester visit on Saturday in the FA Cup Fourth Round.

Former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is amongst the early front-runners, one online bookie quoting odds as short as 8/15 at the time of writing. Owen Coyle is quoted at 2-1. You could also get 25—1 on our very own Neil Redfearn or if you really want to waste your dosh, why not 50-1 on Neil Warnock returning to the club he graced between 1993-1995.

The timing of Grayson's sacking and Adkin's availability may be coincidental. Maybe however he would be better off waiting for a bigger club to come along?

Leeds crush Norwich to cruise through to play-off final
With our recent form being what it was, I was expecting a nervy encounter, with Leeds struggling to get through the Norwich City defence, but how wrong I was! Suddenly we recovered the swagger we have shown for much of the season, and not a moment too soon.
Farke happy with the result after bore draw at Norwich
Many neutrals have complained on social media that yesterday’s game at Norwich City was a bit on the dull side, but the Leeds team wasn't set up to please them. For us it was the result that mattered, and it should leave us in a better position to get through to the final.
Norwich Awaydaze
For the second time this season we are visiting Norwich City, this time for the play-off game at high noon on Sunday, and the kick-off time is of course thanks to our good friends at Sky Sports. You’ll find Carrow Road is about a mile to the south-east of the city centre.
May the 4th not with us as we finish the regular season with a tepid defeat
If we were ever going to have a final day miracle we needed a much better performance than this final day showing against Southampton, so now we have to endure the agony of the play-offs yet again.
