A Huge Day - About Football Not Leeds - Roberto

Roberto Martinez celebrates the day his side were crowned Champions of League One

Defeat at home to Yeovil made it 5 without victory at the Liberty but a defeat for Carlisle allowed the announcers to proclaim the Swans as Champions of League One with nobody able to catch them.

There is always the cloud that someone may give Leeds back their points but for now the Swans are Champions and that should be the fact that is remembered and the nice people at Bet Direct are clearly thinking the same way when they deposited by winnings on that very bet in my account last night.

And Roberto was there to say that it was the achievement on the pitch that counted He said: “It’s a huge day for us to celebrate and everyone deserves it.”

“The Leeds situation is away from football,” he said. “Football issues should be dealt with by football’s governing bodies.

“FIFA and UEFA don’t like it when you take things outside of football. I don’t want to waste any time thinking about it because if the decision goes against the football rules, it’s going to be a much bigger problem. Other teams could then take it further and they would be right to do so.”

Swansea though are in a strange position know - proclaimed Champions and fully aware that no matter what happens with Leeds next season will be spent in the Championship.

And when they give us the trophy next weekend - we ain't giving it back!

Champions!

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
