Jackett Waits For Re-Signs

Jackett Waits For Re-Signs

Kristian O'Leary and Stuart Jones were both offered new one year contracts at the end of last season whilst the rest of the out of contract players were released.

With both players existing contracts expiring next Wednesday (30th June) the time is now to get the signatures for both on a piece of paper to ensure that Jackett's squad is pretty much as he envisaged at this stage.

O'Leary was one of the most improved players of last season at the Vetch and clearly impressed Jackett with his versatility, playing in a variety of positions for a variety of reasons. Jones has long since been touted as one of the promising youngsters at the Vetch although, as with O'Leary, he does have his critics.

Neither player as yet we are told has signed the new deal that has been placed in front of them. News is expected on both players within the course of the next week or so.

Once Jackett has hopefully secured both of these signatures then he will just have the final pieces of his jigsaw to slot into place for next season as the players report back for pre-season training on Monday next week. A new goalkeeper is top of the agenda with the Evening Posts till linking the names of Billy Turley from Rushden & Diamonds, Gavin Ward - recently released from Coventry together with Simon Brown at Colchester.

We have progressed over the summer to date - the hard work appears to be starting now.
