Man Utd Link Rumbles On

Shock, Horror, the Manchester Evening News mention Roberto's name.....

I'm not being funny here but there are other names in the frame for this job - and that pool of other names will provide the name of the person who eventually gets the job.

The problem that we have here is clearly that there is an agenda being held elsewhere that would love to unsettle the Swans plans for the Championship season.  An agenda that picks up on anything that is felt could cause some unrest and disrput the Swans potential challenge to become the number 1 side in South Wales next season.

The evidence on this Man Utd link is simple.  The Sunday Times (does it make it more likely because it was written in the Sunday Times?) wrote something that said "They could go for someone like Simon Davey or Roberto Martinez" and almost immediately the Western Mail had turned that into something Swans fans should be extremely worried about.

They almost passed over the fact that Huw Jenkins said it was rubbish.  The fact that Roberto won't even entertain the idea enough to talk about it is irrelevant, it makes good reading they think and could potentially upset the Swans preparations for the new season.

Nobody believes it will happen, nobody believes that it is being thought about.  Sir Alex himself has said nothing about it not even a hint that something like that is in his plans.   Today's 'link' between Man Utd and Roberto is so strong that the Western Mail can only describe it as "the Manchester Evening News, who have a close affinity with the club, have asked: “Could there be a McClaren figure in the English lower leagues who fits Fergie’s identikit picture of a possible new No 2?”

So, there we have it.  A local newspaper with nothing to back it up of substance have asked a question which have led the Western Mail to declare "SPECULATION linking Roberto Martinez with a shock move to join Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford has taken a new twist "

A new twist?  Oh come on, that's not even close to being a twist.  Tomorrow's news boldy declares "Roberto seems almost certain to join Manchester United after three men were heard outside the Coronation St set talking about Spain and Spanish influences on the modern game"

And for reference, the Manchester Evening news 'link' said "Ex-Wigan player Roberto Martinez has made an early impact in management as Swansea's boss, taking the League One title last season and was named League One's Manager of the Year.

At 34 making the step-up to Old Trafford might be difficult with influential veterans like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville still playing.

However, the Spaniard would have the useful tool of a big language tick on his CV to boost his cause."

Roberto to Manchester United.   Ain't gonna happen.   No.

With our recent form being what it was, I was expecting a nervy encounter, with Leeds struggling to get through the Norwich City defence, but how wrong I was! Suddenly we recovered the swagger we have shown for much of the season, and not a moment too soon.
Farke happy with the result after bore draw at Norwich
Many neutrals have complained on social media that yesterday’s game at Norwich City was a bit on the dull side, but the Leeds team wasn't set up to please them. For us it was the result that mattered, and it should leave us in a better position to get through to the final.
Norwich Awaydaze
For the second time this season we are visiting Norwich City, this time for the play-off game at high noon on Sunday, and the kick-off time is of course thanks to our good friends at Sky Sports. You’ll find Carrow Road is about a mile to the south-east of the city centre.

If we were ever going to have a final day miracle we needed a much better performance than this final day showing against Southampton, so now we have to endure the agony of the play-offs yet again.
