Meet The Ref - Southampton

Matthew Phillips introduces us to the man in the middle for the Southampton game

Saturday’s referee is Peter Walton from Northamptonshire; he has been a Football League ref since 1998 and became a Premiership referee in 2003. He averages just over 2 yellows per game and will referee in his second Championship game of the season, the other was also in Wales – the Cardiff v Bristol City match.

This will be Peter Walton’s first visit to the Liberty Stadium, his last home game being the 2-1 home win over Chester in 2000 at the Vetch. He did take charge of the away win at Yeovil last season – he booked 3 Swansea players in that game

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
