Ash: We Did Ourselves Proud

Ashley Williams says that the Swans did themselves proud at Portsmouth this weekend

But incredibly the Swansea City defender also revealed that they have played better this season and that manager Roberto Martinez told them after the game that it was not a 10/10 performance.

Ash was a rock once again at the heart of the Swans defence as they kept their Premiership opponents at bay for the 90 minutes and ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Nathan Dyer and Jason Scotland.

The result earned the Swans a home draw against Fulham in the 5th Round but for now the Swans are just lapping up the plaudits for their stylish passing game.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Williams said ''We did ourselves proud as a team and showed the rest of the country what we can do

''We are seen as a little corner of Wales. The gaffer has had some great reviews, which he really deserves.

''But he told us in the changing room after the game, we hadn't put in a 10 out of 10 performance — we have done a lot better this season.

''That's the pleasing thing, knowing we can go up a few more notches. We showed at Porstmouth that we will be confident.

''We know what we can do. It is frustrating when we don't get the credit we deserve. But we go about our business as usual and we did that at Portsmouth. We put out the holders and a Premier League team — now we'll have the respect from the top teams.

''It was like land of the giants at times

''They knew they had a significant height advantage, so they tried to use that against us. But we defended strongly ''
