And that is a huge compliment for Swansea City from the man who only joined Pompey from Liverpool last week.
Penant was - in fairness - the only real threat that Portsmouth seemed to have on Saturday as the holders crashed out of the FA Cup earning the Swans a 5th Round tie at home to Fulham in the process.
And the performance from the Championship side led to the biggest compliment going from Penant who told the Western Mail “I thought they were playing in the Champions League. I was very surprised by how good they were and they were probably the best team I’ve played against.”
