Paulo: The Pressure Is On Against Reading

Paulo Sousa admits that the pressure is on his side as they look for their first league win of the season against Reading

The Swans entertain Reading at the Liberty as the bottom two sides in the division go head to head this evening.

The visitors have accumulated just one point whilst the Swans are the only team in the division to have lost both their opening games in a disappointing start to the season.

And whilst Paulo is happy to call for patience he admits that the pressure is on his side to record their first points of the season.

Speaking on the eve of the game, Sousa said “We need to get points on the board and it’s always important to win games

“But we still have confidence and the players’ reactions after Saturday’s game showed me they still believe in themselves.

“We want to get our first win on the board though.

“That’s what we are looking for.

“I also want a good response from my players because we need to continue the good work from the first 30 minutes against Middlesbrough.

“If we can do that and not concede anything to our opponents, we can get the three points.

“Mentally we went down after the second goal on Saturday but we always need to be fighting, even when things don’t go so well for us. We need to continue the good things we did because the goals will come if we keep the same intensity all the time.

“I am confident about what my players can achieve and we have a long way to go this season. We will see where we finish in the end.

“It’s a tough start but that’s football for you,” he said.

“It gives the chance to grow quicker than we might have done.

“Reading are a good team and I think they will do well.

“They have young players with good quality that have played for important clubs.

“They are a team that plays very good football with a great dynamic. So they will bring some difficulties for us.

“We will need to be at our best to beat them.

“But that is what I expect from my players.”
