Brendan - My Players Were Magnificent

As you would expect Brendan Rodgers was a happy man after his side moved within a point of second place

The Swansea City manager told the official Swans website "My players were magnificent,'' declared Brendan. "It was a key game that everyone knew we had to win. If we had lost it would have been difficult for us.

"It was a top class game and tactically we were outstanding against an outstanding side. We had our hands full at times, but I thought we coped well after the first 10 minutes.

"It was important for us to get the win - and to get the three points and keep a clean sheet is outstanding.

"To keep a clean sheet against a side that scores goals for fun says it all about us defensively today.

"It's a wonderful achievement for the players to go this far with six games left playing inventive and creative football.

"My players deserve the plaudits. They put in a lot of effort today and got their rewards.

"We are on 69 points - the same points tally as last season - and now we need to push on with another very tough game against Hull on Tuesday.

"We've got three games left at home and three away. We need to be as good as this at home and even better away and we'll see where it takes us.'
