"Liverpool Will Come To Win" Declares Dzeko

Speaking to MCFC.co.uk Edin Dzeko has warned that Liverpool can cause City serious problems on Monday night. The Premier League runners up visit the Etihad in City's first home game of the season.

Liverpool pushed City all the way for the title last season and Dzeko believes that they will be there or thereabouts once again this season.

"You never know what can happen, nobody expected Liverpool to go so far last season but, in football, the unexpected can happen,”

"This is especially true in the Premier League — Liverpool are a dangerous team that we must respect.

"Every team, from the first five or six from last year, thinks that they can win the title this season but hopefully we can be the team to go and do it again — it will be tough but we are ready to fight.

"Suarez is a big loss for them but they have some good new players and some very talented players who have stayed, so we will see how they do this season.”

City were the only team to out score Liverpool last season with the final tally being separated by only one goal.

"They played some amazing football last season and they were just behind us at the end of the season,” Edin told MCFC.co.uk.

"Hopefully they can be behind us at the end of this season as well because they are a very good team with a great manager.

"They’re a great club and they will come here and try to win but we’re at home and I think we have an amazing team as well.

The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
