Outgoing, unbeaten Redders pulls off Italian job in Bournemouth!

Neil Redfearn may well have taken charge of Leeds for the last time but if this is it he can move back to the academy with his head held high as Leeds dispatched fading Bournemouth 3-1 on the south coast.

However our old inadequacies and Tuesday night failings were there to see early doors and when Andy Surman fired the hosts in front after 6 minutes the hosts could scent a repeat of the 4-1 drubbing they had dished out to us last season.

Indeed it was the cherries who dominated the first half, we were indebted to Marco Silvestre who pulled off a string of saves to keep us in it although we did get more into the game before the break.

However it was a case of patience and a few frayed nerves until the 67th minute when Souleymane Doukara, who was plying his trade in Italy last season raced on to Lewis Cook's through ball and cooly finished. It was the Senegalese strikers 3rd goal since his arrival from Catania.

Most of us would have settled for a point and an extension of our unbeaten run to three matches however Bellusci, the man dubbed "the warrior" by his legions of Twitter fans added a few more followers with a deftly taken right-foot free kick to edge the whites' in front, Bellusci initially looked stunned before Doukara wrestled the Italian round the neck to commence the celebrations.

Having survived a late push for an equaliser, the much maligned Mirco Antenucci sealed off a real Italian job in the final minute. My advise to Antenuccis detractors is watch what he does off the ball, his movement etc but hopefully a goal under is belt will boost his confidence.

So the Redfearn feel-good bandwagon rolls on, we have a young side pulling in the right direction together, their experience is growing and we are in good hands. Coming from Dewsbury, Redders will know all about the rivalry between us and our next opponents the yapping, annoying Terriers from down Leeds Road!

The search for a new head coach has throw up names as desirable as Alex Sabella and ridiculous as Robbie Fowler, Redders did after all co-pilot our 5-1 demolition Derby over Town in February and it's reassuring to hear Massimo Cellino talk of needing Redfearn back at the Academy job he covets rather than him be fodder for the fourth managerial casualty under Cellino''s reign- as you were Massimo, the new man can start on Monday!

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
