He's hit the headlines for drinking with fans in the pub, scoffing hot-dogs in the away-end but on the eve of his enforced Football League instigated "departure", madcap Massimo Cellino apparently cooked the players' pre-match meal before our sensational win over Bournemouth.
Cellino has been ordered to sever all-ties with Leeds United after being disqualified by the Football League following the dismissal of his appeal for failing the "fit and proper persons test". He will have to step down today (Wednesday) but it was revealed he cooked pasta for the players prior to the win against the league leaders.
Cellino can return on April 10th when his conviction for fraud in Italy becomes "spent", you will recall this was due to failing to pay import-duty on a yacht called Nelie where last year an Italian court branded him "dishonest" he is presently appealing. However he is due to answer two further charges of tax-evasion in Italy as well as a possible misconduct charge from the Football League for allegedly failing to supply them with details about the Nelie case.
Cellino told the Yorkshire Evening Post it was business as usual, despite the court-ruling saying. "I’ll abide by the rules, I’ll resign but then in April, finito, I’ll come back. I was signing the cheques before.
"Now someone else will sign them for me. The club has been looked after.
"The League say I must go but where do they want me to go? Miami or Cagliari? I’ll go where I like and I’m going nowhere. If I want to live in Leeds, I’ll live in Leeds. I’ll follow the rules but I’ll stay in Leeds.”
Whether or not Massimo continues to turn up to our matches remains to be seen. Despite incurring the wrath of the fans just under 12 months ago by sacking then-manager Brian McDermott, the majority of the 17,000 odd crowd for the visit of the Cherries were clearly out in loud vocal support for the outgoing Chairman and a variety of expletive laden songs were aired directed at the Football League.
