Leeds squandered a two-nil lead to lose out to Watford. Whilst maritime martyr Massimo Cellino vows to sail alone and clear his name over an alleged irregularity over tax on a yacht, Leeds drifted rudderlessly onto the rocks and were sunk by Troy Deeney and a brace from Matej Vydra.
Maybe it was just as well our trigger-happy President is in Miami licking his wounds as this collapse might have prompted the "Manager Eater" to make yet another change in the dug-out, which is arguably one of the reasons why we are heading for our third consecutive season of mid-season mediocracy.
However it started so beautifully! Twitter-rebel Billy Sharp pounced after just six minutes to fire the whites in front, granted it was little more than a tap in after Anya's weak header was parried by Gomes into the path of Sharp who celebrated his 150th career goal.
On 20 minutes the belief that yet another high-flying scalp would be acclaimed when Rudy Austin chested down Murphy's long through ball and smacked home a 20-yard volley from the corner of the box to double Leeds lead.
However Watford fired a warning when Silvestre smothered an away attack when Vydra cursed the luck of the bounce but 40 minutes passed and Leeds were clearly deflated when having wasted a free-kick the ball was pinged back into our area and our prolific tormentor slipped past Bamba and Cooper to beat Silvestre.
To give us some credit, we came out fighting for the killer third and two chances were squandered inside the first minute, Gomes was relieved to see the Jamaican's shot cannon off his legs and Sharp so desperate to keep his place in Steve Morison's absence should have done better with a gilt edged chance.
However the inevitable happened on 60 minutes when a Leeds attack was quickly broken down and the whites were unable to deal with Deeney's pace and power as he sped into the box and squared for Vydra to score only his second goal since November.
The contest was settled on 81 minutes when Mowatt lost possession in midfield and again Deeney swept the ball towards Vydra who squirmed between Bamba and Silvestre to net the winner.
It was one of those awful afternoons that makes you question your pending season-ticket renewal for next season. We surrendered possession too easily, there was nothing in the centre of midfield although losing our man-of-the-match Rudy Austin to injury didn't help. Again our defence looked square and susceptible to pace. Given the eternal rumours surrounding the ownership of the club, the bright start to 2015 has faded and another visit from another fancied team in Ipswich midweek our fourth in 10 days isn't really something we particularly relish.
