12 - Alessandro Pellicori

Italian target man Alessandro Pellicori signed for QPR for an undisclosed fee from Avellino in the summer of 2009.

DOB – 22/07/81

The 28 year old striker signed for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2009 after receiving mixed reviews for his performances during Rangers' pre-season campaign – during which he scored twice against Forest Green and Kettering. He is moving to Loftus Road on a three year deal with earlier reports suggesting QPR will pay a transfer fee in the region of £1m for his services.

Manager Jim Magilton told the club's official website: "Alessandro has done well with us during his trial period. He is a natural goal scorer and we are delighted to add him to the already healthy attacking options we have at our disposal. He will take time to settle over here but we are really excited by his arrival."

Pellicori has been something of a journeyman in his career so far, rattling round between ten teams in the top three divisions of Italian football. Last season he scored four goals in 12 starts and seven sub appearances on loan with Grosseto in Serie C, and two goals in 16 starts and one sub appearance for Avellino in Serie B. The season before he scored 18 times in 34 starts and four subs in Serie B with Avellino.

Rangers have taken advantage of the dire financial situation at Avellino, who were relegated last season, to pick up their top marksmen for the forthcoming Championship season.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
