Are QPR Looking To Move For Jordi?

Reports surfacing today have suggested that Queens Park Rangers are considering a transfer move for Swans defender Jordi Amat to replace Steven Caulker who has departed for Southampton on loan.

Caulker joined his 5th club in 5 seasons when he moved to Southampton and he will be looking to ensure he does not suffer relegation for the third successive season having achieved that with both Cardiff and QPR in the last two years.

QPR have fallen foul of the financial fair play rules (no surprise there) and are looking to cut costs and believe that they can lure Amat away from the Premier League to be part of their drive to return to this level.

For me this is a simple one, Jordi should not be for sale. As with the other players who have attracted interest this summer we should not be looking to sell anyone having worked so hard to get our squad to the place where we have competition for places everywhere which of course gives us important backup.

The difficulty at the moment is of course that Jordi will not get too much game time here but he is - for me - first choice back up should either Ash or Fede be injured or suspended.

The reports also suggest that QPR will not pay more than £20,000 per week for his services which could also prove a stumbling block according to the same articles.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
