Leeds complete signing of Ronaldo

No, it’s not the talented but extremely irritating Christiano, nor the planet sized 39 year-old Brazilian, but the wonderfully named Ronaldo Vieira Nan.

The player who shares his name with three legendary footballers and an Indian side dish is a talented 17-year-old, who Leeds have been lucky enough to sign on a two year scholarship deal. He’s from Portugal and after spending three years at the i2i Football Academy in York he impressed the club’s staff during a trial at Elland Road.

He has already played for our under-18 and under-21 sides and made a substitute appearance for our first-team in the pre-season 3-0 victory over Tadcaster Albion. And the youngster is described by the Yorkshire Post as "a versatile midfielder who reads the game very well”, which presumably means that he could play anywhere across the midfield.

There’s are no indication yet as to when he might be considered for first team action, but over the years there have been several stars who have made their debuts at the same tender age, the latest being Lewis Cook. And while he develops he will be in the very capable hands of Paul Hart, so let’s hope he lives up to his potential and stays at Elland Road for a good few years.
