Put The International Celebrations To Bed

The Swans welcome Stoke City to the Liberty Stadium this evening with many of our players on the high that qualification for Euro 2016 can bring.

The Swans will have a good representation in France next summer with the likes of Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Lukasz Fabianski all having celebrated a qualification for the tournament next summer.

But Garry Monk has urged his international stars to put the celebrations behind them and concentrate on helping deliver the Swans a first Premier League win since August against a Stoke side who can move ahead of us with a win.

The Swans have gone five games without a win - four of them in the league - and that is something that Monk will want to end this evening but he has asked the players to concentrate on league form now that the international break is over

He said: "It has been great for a number of our players of all different nationalities — it has been fantastic.

"These periods in the international break are always difficult for the clubs because you want to spend as much time as possible preparing your players.

"But we are happy to have international players and they have all done well. It is good for me as a manager of Swansea, though that it is done and dusted.

"I feel it is important they put it to bed now.

"They need to concentrate on their football here at the club.

"That is my message. I have spoken to them and they are fully aware of it.”

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
