Rommy Boco is delighted to have made his Pompey debut so soon - and is now hoping he gets further chances to impress.
The Benin international replaced Kai Naismith for the final half-hour at Newport and fitted into the shape of the team well.
He may be involved when Teddy Sheringham's Stevenage visit Fratton on Tuesday night.
Boco told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'It was a great feeling to come on and it’s a pleasure to be part of this team. I was contracted to a club in India and needed a bit of fitness, so I asked the manager if I could train at Pompey.
'He knows I can play a few positions and wanted to add me to the squad, so I was happy to accept that. It’s fantastic to see the direction the club is going in and the large number of fans that go to the games.
'When I had the chance to come here, it was a no-brainer really and I was really pleased to sign. The opportunity to be at a club like Pompey is a great one for me and hopefully I can do well here.
'I wasn’t expecting to be involved so quickly, so I was pleased to be able to come on and make a contribution.'
