Over the years Saints wins at Old Trafford have been rarer than rocking horse droppings, so can they make it two wins in succession on Saturday.
Saints win at Old Trafford last season was the first win at Manchester United in the league since 1987/88 season and that in itself was our first League win there since 1969/70 which was incidentally the last time we won two in a row at Old Trafford with that 4-1 win following the previous season's 2-1 victory.
So can Saints repeat that feat from over 46 years ago this weekend when they attempt to make it back to back wins.
If they do then that would make it three visits in a row without defeat at Old Trafford for only the second time in our history the only previous occasion being in 1932/33, however there was a seven season gap between our draw in 1924/25 season and our win in 1931/32, so thats not the three season in a row that would be achieved if we at least drew on Saturday.
So can Saints do it ?
The answer is yes, confidence is high and United are a club in crisis, of course with the players that they have you can never be sure when they might click, but like Chelsea there is something wrong within the club that means that although they have the potential to beat most on their day, that day isnt that often these days.
So Saints travel to the North West knowing that they have more chance of winning at Old Trafford than perhaps any other time in their history, they go there with confidence and they go there with options.
It would be great to go there and do it, not just because of the joy in watching the faces on the tourists that pack Old Trafford these days, but also because it would truly make a statement that Saints season is far from finished and that perhaps a top six place and even European qualification is still possible.
