Dowie fired as QPR manager

Iain Dowie has today been sacked as QPR manager with Gareth Ainsworth taking over as caretaker manager for the trip to Reading on Saturday.

Iain Dowie has won eight of his 15 matches in charge of QPR but has recently attracted criticism for negative team selections and poor performances.

Dowie has endured a frosty relationship with owner Flavio Briatore – rumours of Briatore’s increased interference with team selection have resurfaced in recent weeks and the national media has been tipping Dowie for the chop for some time now.

The former QPR striker will reportedly be due a pay off in the region of £1m following this sacking.

Coach Gareth Ainsworth will be in caretaker charge for the trip to Reading tomorrow night. He is QPR's fifth manager in 12 months and frankly if our owners think that is a recipe for any kind of success they are kidding themselves.
