Saints To Replace Sadio With Saido ?

This is not a typo, neither is it an anagram, but Saints could be about to replace Sadio Mane with Saido Berahinho pictured with Victor Wanyama above.

According to reports in the West Midlands, want away West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino could be about to join Saints, although Stoke City still remain favourites to sign him with other interest from Crystal Palace and Watford.

Berahino like former Saint Victor Wanyama was famously "Unsettled" by our friend at White Hart Lane last summer in an attempt to prise him away on the cheap and he never seemed to quite recover from the experience.

Spurs are not said(o) to be quite so keen this time around, so it looks like one of the four clubs mentioned could land the player who does not wish to remain at the Hawthorns.

The report in the Birmingham paper Express & Star states that Berahino himself would be interested in moving to St Mary's and that although Stoke are favourites, they were also said to be in pole position to sign Nathan Redmond until Southampton pipped them at the post.

In 2014/15 Berahino scored 14 Premier League goals for the Baggies in 32 starts plus another 6 games as sub, last season saw him start only 17 gaes plus another 14 as sub scoring only 14 goals, but his relationship with manager Tony Pulis as well as the West Brom Chairman was very strained at this point.

At 23 in August Berahino's career is at a crossroads and he needs to get back on track, he now has a certain reputation and needs a clean break something which only a move could provide.

How much he would cost is open for debate, certainly Tottenham were looking at around £20 million if they had tried to do it through the proper channels, West Brom are not in a hurry to sell so it could perhaps take a shade over £15 million to persuade them to part.

But that would be less than half of what Saints have now received for Sadio Mane from Liverpool, so this could perhaps represent a good piece of business for Saints, Berahino a year ago had the better track record and is a talent, just the sort of player Saints look for.

So what do you think should Saints stop being Sad and replace Sadio with Saido ?
