Leeds United: Former Doncaster Rovers man moves to Elland Road
Leeds United have today appointed Paul Butler as the club's new first-team coach.
Butler - who previously held the same role at Doncaster Rovers before serving as the head of recruitment at the Keepmoat Stadium until his departure in October 2016 - was present at today's pre-season fixture away to Guiseley, where he was tasked with overseeing United's warm-up prior to the match.
The 31-year-old previously worked with former Leeds striker Paul Dickov at both Oldham Athletic and Doncaster, in addition to a spell with Blackpool. As a coach able to list the aforementioned clubs as former employers, the appointment ensures that invaluable domestic experience is added to the backroom staff at Elland Road.
Indeed, Butler was targeted for that precise reason. Of United's coaching staff prior to his arrival, only goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad had previously held employment within the Football League. Bristol City assistant and former Leeds player John Pemberton is also understood to have been considered for the position.
