Wood offered a three-year extension

Chris Wood has been offered a three-year extension to his present deal however will it be enough to prevent Premiership predators from pouncing.

It is understood that Leeds have rejected three bids from Premier League clubs; Burnley have apparently bid £12m and £16m for the 25-year-old who is under contract until 2019. West Brom, Wood's first club are apparently the other side who've had an offer rejected by Leeds.

The whites' are now trying to tie Wood up until he's 30.

However the players response to the new deal will surely determine whether or not his head has been turned or not?

Prior to Tuesday nights draw with Fulham, the Daily Express suggested the player was angry because Leeds had apparently destroyed a "dream move" to Burnley by holding out for £20m.

How anybody with an ounce of sanity could accuse another human-being of dreaming about Burnley is beyond me.

But we older fans have seen it happen all too often, we offer a new deal in the face of mounting interest only for the player to turn it down. Think Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, not to mention Sam Byram, although the latter was apparently offered a derisory amount by then owner Massimo Cellino.

Andrea Radrizani seems to have made all the right moves so far so let's hope Woody's new deal will persuade him to stay long-term,or if not he's sold for a premium fee.
