Swansea City v Manchester United - Match Preview

Premier League football returns to the Liberty Stadium tomorrow lunchtime as the Swans open their home league campaign with the visit of the early league leaders in Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho's side impressed last week during the 4-0 home win against West Ham whilst the Swans opened with a point in a 0-0 draw at Southampton. It was a 0-0 draw that saw us achieve no shots on target during the game and that is a statistic that clearly has to change if we are to make an impression on the goals for column.

The Sky TV cameras will be in attendance at the Liberty as their infatuation with Manchester United continues but it will be a chance for us to continue some very strong home form at the end of last season where we delivered at the Liberty more often than not under Paul Clement.

Fernando Llorente is back in training after fracturing his arm in a cycling accident last month but he will not face Manchester United.

Captain Leon Britton is struggling with a back injury, so £11m summer signing Roque Mesa could make his debut.

Manchester United remain without injured trio Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo.

This of course is the first game of the post Gylfi Sigurdsson era after he completed a club record move to Everton this week although it won't impact on the side selection given his lack of involvement this weekend.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement: "My message to the fans would be that the club wants to move forward, we want to improve our squad and our style.

"It is a big challenge replacing Gylfi [Sigurdsson], but I hope we can potentially bring in two or three players to strengthen us in various positions.

"We don't have superstars here, everyone gives their best for each other."

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
