Leeds United: Whites complete capture of talented attacking full-back

Leeds United have completed the signing of teenage full-back Leif Davis.

Leeds United have bolstered their Under-23 squad with the capture of teenage left-back Leif Davis, who arrives from League Two outfit Morecambe for an undisclosed fee.

Davis, 18, has penned a three-year contract with the Whites, and will feature for the club's development squad throughout the forthcoming season.

Discussing the move, Davis remarked: "It was a great experience to be at a professional club in Morecambe and it’s been a stepping stone to get to where I am now. It shows if you put the hard work in you can get the rewards.

"I was a two-year scholar at Morecambe and whilst I didn’t make my debut, I was training with the first team week in, week out.

"I’m a modern-day attacking left-back and I love getting forward. My aim is to play in the first team one day and hopefully I can do well here and progress.”

The transfer is redolent of United's proclivity for poaching talent from rival academies of late, with Bulgarian striker Kun Temenuzhkov (Barcelona) and defenders Pascal Struijk (Ajax) and Aapo Halme (HJK Helsinki) all having joined for fees since Andrea Radrizzani became the club's chairman last year.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
