What Would Nerw Keeper Signing Mean For Forster And McCarthy ?

With the signing of Angus Gunn from Manchester City looking imminent, it seems strange to pay so much for a young keeper with two experienced ones already on the books.

Angus Gunn is a strange signing for Saints,, with Alex McCarthy impressive at the end of the season and Fraser Forster hoping for a recall, why do Saints need a third keeper ?

At 22 Gunn has never played in the Premier League and indeed his only experience was last term on loan at his Father's old club Norwich City, at this stage of his development you would think that he would be looking for a chance of a regular game in the Premier League.

But Saints might well choose to loan him back out for a further season elsewhere, the could be buying for the future, at the moment they have just signed McCarthy up for a new deal and Forster has time left on his and it will be hard to move him on due to his wages.

But perhaps the club have doubts about McCarthy's ability to turn a short purple patch of games into a full season and beyond, they see him week in week out and it is hardly a vote of confidence in him to sign a keeper fro such a high price tag said to be £10 million down and a further £3.5 in add ons

It's a nice situation to have but at this time a puzzling one as to where Gunn will fit in the pecking order.

Leeds crush Norwich to cruise through to play-off final
With our recent form being what it was, I was expecting a nervy encounter, with Leeds struggling to get through the Norwich City defence, but how wrong I was! Suddenly we recovered the swagger we have shown for much of the season, and not a moment too soon.
Farke happy with the result after bore draw at Norwich
Many neutrals have complained on social media that yesterday’s game at Norwich City was a bit on the dull side, but the Leeds team wasn't set up to please them. For us it was the result that mattered, and it should leave us in a better position to get through to the final.
Norwich Awaydaze
For the second time this season we are visiting Norwich City, this time for the play-off game at high noon on Sunday, and the kick-off time is of course thanks to our good friends at Sky Sports. You’ll find Carrow Road is about a mile to the south-east of the city centre.
May the 4th not with us as we finish the regular season with a tepid defeat
If we were ever going to have a final day miracle we needed a much better performance than this final day showing against Southampton, so now we have to endure the agony of the play-offs yet again.
