Gabbiadini Doubt For Anfield
Mark Hughes has confirmed that the only fresh in jury worry for his squad for the trip to Anfield is Manolo Gabbiadini.
Saints have a problem up front for the trip to Anfield, not only will they be without Danny Ings who is being on loan is unable to play against his parent club, but they also look set to lose the services of Manolo Gabbiadini with a hamstring injury.
Mark Hughes speaking ahead of the trip to Merseyside said.
"We’ve got a couple of issues, our main concern is Manolo, who unfortunately pulled up in training today. It looks like he has an issue with his lower hamstring behind the knee; we think it might be a neural thing but we’ll check in the morning to see if it’s settled down. Apart from Danny of course, he's the only player in doubt at this stage. "
"We’ve got lots of options in the forward positions. Obviously, you don’t want to lose anyone of them but if he does miss out, we’ll prepare without Gabbi and Danny and still be strong enough."
That leaves Hughes with the prospect of playing only one up front, something he may well have done anyway with Liverpool rampart in attack at the moment and he is likely to start with just Shane Long as the lone striker with the option of Charlie Austin off the bench, he could also employ either Moi Elyounoussi or Nathan Redmond in an attacking role.
