Derby v QPR Betting Preview

As QPR prepare to face Derby County in a live Saturday tea-time fixture on the BBC our pundits cast their eye over the game and look for value elsewhere in the weekend markets.

Brian Power
This Saturday evening the BBC have decided to give their prime time slot to an overpaid blonde who talks with a weird accent but never has anything relevant to say. And no I am not talking about Tess Daly but Robbie Savage. Savage is a perfect example of what is wrong with our game a very average player who has made millions but his only real contribution was to take a crap in the refs loo before a game. Now after this you watch him score first.

Derby have big injury problems for the game according to the press and with our recent run I think an away win is on the cards. I will go for a 3-1 win for the R’s with Stewart to get the first goal.

Elsewhere I am going to go for a Yankee of draws, a trixie and a Lucky 15 of first goalscorers. On the Horse front I am going to back Al Zir in the Racing Post Trophy.

For the weekend:
£5 QPR to beat Derby 3-1 25/1
£5 Stewart to score first 33/1

£11.50 Al Zir to win Racing Post Trophy 5/1

£2.50 trixie (doubles and a treble )
Villa 11/10
Dagenham 5/4
Ipswich 19/10

50p Lucky 15 1st scorers
D Bent 5/1
R Keane 9/2
Agbonahlor 5/1
Nugent 13/2

£1 Yankee
Gillingham Charlton Draw 9/4
Millwall Leeds Draw 9/4
Soton MK Dons Draw 9/4
Chesterfield/Burton Draw 12/5

Previously Advised:
Dallas Cowboys to win the Superbowl, £10 at 20/1

What a week it’s been for the regulars down at Loftus Road. Eight goals, four of them absolute stunners, two convincing wins and free flowing football as well. Can it get any better? From stuttering mid table no-bodies, Rangers now look like a side which can seriously mount a promotion push, I’ve watched a few so called top Championship sides this season and nothing compares to the attacking football Rangers have showed. So, whilst the price is still in double figures, Rangers to win The Championship is 14/1 with Betfair looks good value. Another convincing win this weekend and I can assure you that price will drop significantly.

This weekend Derby County host Rangers, and they surely must be quaking in their boots at the thought of Tarrabet, Routledge and Buzsaky, all who are in top form. County have been as inconsistent as anything so far this term, but have produced a couple of good home wins. But everything suggests an away win here; Pride Park was even a place where we managed three points last season. So 17/10 with Totesport looks a real good price for Rangers fans to get their teeth stuck into and hopefully pay for a celebratory night out after the game, that’s my plan of action.

But I have a feeling it won’t be as convincing as previous results suggest, Rangers have scored some top class goals which don’t happen every week and I can see a comfortable win, but not by many. So a spread bet on 1-0 (7/1) and 2-1 (10/1) with Betfred will be my second selection on the match.

Elsewhere, Man United travel to Anfield with probably the best chance of beating their rivals in years, 6/4 for United to win along with a few more selections from the weekend’s game will conclude this week’s tips.

For the weekend:
£20 on QPR to beat Derby 17/10 with Totesport
£5 on QPR to win 1-0 7/1 with Betfred
£5 on QPR to win 2-1 10/1 with Betfred

£1.50 Trebles x 4
£4 Acca
Man Utd to beat Liverpool – 6/4 with Skybet
Sunderland to beat Birmingham – 8/5 with PaddyPower
Ipswich to beat Plymouth – 9/5 with Skybet
Reading to beat Leicester – 8/5 with Skybet

For the notebook:
£10 QPR to win The Championship 14/1

As Mark Twain might have said, rumours of the death of our promotion hopes have been greatly exaggerated. Last night’s win at Middlesbrough was a hard watch towards the end, but the vital three points has got our campaign back on track.
