Swans latest : Ashby decides to sign for Swansea plus Grimes & Fulton news

Harrison Ashby has decided that Swansea City are the club for him to spend the new season with. After some delays and a rigid medical the Newcastle United right sided player has signed on the dotted line. The twenty one year old was put through his paces yesterday at Fairwood in a strenuous training session.

Ashby will bring pace and a keen eye for a through ball to the team this season. His manager at Newcastle, Eddie Howe, wanted him at a club where he will receive development through playing games and the Swans have promised him that. In a tough championship it will be a big test for Harrison who scored for his parent club in pre season against Glasgow Rangers and started against Brighton in the USA an early on Saturday morning.

Michael Duff is known for his fast tempo training sessions with a focus on recovery times and then low key warm downs. A number of clubs were interested in Ashby but it was Swansea who impressed Eddie Howe the most in a move which will see him employed on the right hand side of the pitch in defence or midfield.

We have been told that Harrison looked, ‘Sharp and match fit’ yesterday afternoon before warming down in the gym. Newcastle United have also provided his own personal training plans to the Swans as we saw when Ethan Laird joined the club from Manchester United.

That’s here —> Premier League Loans

On other fronts no offers have been received for any Swansea City players of note this season. Matt Grimes, Jay Fulton and Joel Piroe have created what is being described as ‘some interest’ but nothing more than that is available on these players. No discussions or negotiations have been held hence Grimes stating yesterday, "Every manager has got different ways of doing things and different approaches, and we will be looking to execute the best versions of ourselves. At Swansea City we always attempt to dominate the ball and be a possession-based team, that's who we are and what we thrive to be, but with a few tweaks here and there with the new manager. Obviously we needed more bodies in the building, it's good to get them over the line, we just need to integrate players as quickly as possible and hope they can really contribute "

Swansea City have been credited with interest in Leeds striker Mateo Joseph but as yet that is unqualified. In other news forward Josh Thomas has joined Port Vales on a season long loan.

Leeds are going to Derby County in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, after TNT sport and the FA were shown to be lagging way behind FIFA when it comes to staging a pompus, shamlessly self-promoting and needlessly drawn out draw for a major competition.
