Hammond In Talks With Southampton

Following the news that Paul Lambert has quit to become manager of Norwich City, the U's now look likely to lose their captain to another side relegated from the Championship last season.

Southampton have confirmed that they are currently in talks with Dean Hammond and hope to tie up a deal to sign the 26-year-old midfielder in the next 24-hours.

It's not yet known whether a fee has been agreed.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
