More of those's 80's memories

Eeeh you are a sentimental bunch at heart! Yet more of those 80's memories have brought the days of day-glow socks, Maggie bloody Thatcher and Duran Duran back to life!

Derek writes: "I was at a conference on Thursday and the venue was Pride Park, Derby. During a fag-break, I had a wander down the corridors and there were various pictures, one of which showed Bobby Davison in Derby colours celebrating a goal against us - I think it was at the end of that amazing 86/87 season and the sheep-shaggers were promoted and we had to settle for the play-offs.I remember being at the game, which was not that long after the FA Cup semi's - but we Leeds fans were still buoyant with our eyes on promotion and even the Derby fans - not known for their fondness towards us, largely due to Clough/Revie oh and Franny Lee and Norman Hunter! were big enough to say we deserved to go up through the play-offs."

Ptcree writes:"Seventy Five quid for season ticket in the Geldard End. John Sheridan scoring in extra time in the play-off final at St Andrews only for Shirtlifter to score 2 for Charlton. Ken DeMange scoring on his debut. He peaked early!!   Vinnie Jones tripping the 5 yr old ball boy in front of the Geldard End."

Malvyn Karma writes: "Has to be Vinnie, Vinnie! I was only 15 when he signed and finally persuaded my Uncle Pete to take me on the Kop the day we played Brighton in December at Elland Road. He looked huge and I remember, being at the Kop End when he dribbled past three-players and slotted the ball home from the edge of the box to put us 3-0 up! Who said he could not play football?"

Del Gunn writes: " Bournemouth Whites we are here!!

Best Matches

3rd May 1980 Elland Road Division 1 -Two nil Leeds! The Mancs came in their hoards (they took the whole of the bottom of the Lowfields right up to the boys pen) Still in the hunt for the title they went home with nothing. Left side of the kop was chocca block and absolutely bouncing!!!

28th February 1981 Old Trafford Division 1 Attendance 45733 One nil to Leeds (Brian Flynn)

At this time me and my brother were 16 &15, we had just moved to Southampton from Harrogate. Staunch Leeds fans from the aged of 5 we joined the 'Bournemouth Whites' and used to go to more away games than home. The atmosphere at the away matches was always charged, often dangerous and the numbers of Leeds fans at times could be huge. God knows why coz the standard of football was shite! The away game at OT had to rank as the best ever, there must have been at least 6000 Leeds in the Scoreboard end . Flynn scored the winner…a goal I have still not seen to this day….reasons I will not go into!!(does any one out there have it on video??)  All the way back to Hampshire getting stick from the pissed older lads at the back of the bus, got home and just missed Match of the Day. Our favourite player was Kevin Hird (yes we are both a bit mad!)

Games at Brighton( if you wore Doc Martins, the cops confiscated your laces), West Ham, Everton, Oldham, Arsenal, Southampton, Wolves, Coventry, Man City, Palace……these grounds were proper dumps in the Eighties.

Went on to join Chester and Scotland Whites.

Now, aged 40 plus. I live in the Outer Hebrides but still get down to ER when I can, Got my kids supporting Leeds, great way for them to understand dealing with disappointment and let down! Went to Wembley for the play-offs…met an old mate who I have not seen for 28 years from the now defunct Bournemouth Branch at the Green Man pub. The atmosphere was amazing in and out….30 odd years of following Leeds and still can't get them out of the system.

It's not always the football I remember it's the atmosphere before during and after the games.

Forever and Ever!

Any more memories out there! Come on, these are great! Email Me with them!
