Grayson believes Leeds are on course

Simon Grayson believes he is gradually assembling a squad capable of competing in the Championship, and his latest target could be Hamilton midfield player James McArthur. Leeds have already strengthened the squad during the close season by bringing Schmeichel, Connolly Bessone and Paynter to Elland Road, but Grayson has indicated that he isn’t finished yet.

He told the official site "We're getting there. We're still on with other things and different options keep becoming available all the time but the pieces of the jigsaw are coming together nicely. You find that players become available, then it goes a bit quiet because of the World Cup, but things will pick up again when the players start coming back to training over the next week. We're on with things all the time. I still know where we need to strengthen and we're on with that”.

The latest player to be linked with Leeds United is promising Hamilton midfielder James McArthur,  but we could face competition from a host of other clubs. The 22-year old is also interesting West Brom, Rangers, and Wigan, but it’s believed that none of these clubs have made a bid for the player so far.

We can be sure that Simon Grayson won’t rest until he has put together a squad he feels is capable of competing in the Championship, and I’m starting to feel strangely optimistic about the season to come. Could we reach the dizzy heights of the play-offs?

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
