A few fixture changes already

It certainly hasn’t taken long for Sky TV and the police to start to mess around with our kick-off times.

The TV companies  have already decided that we’ll be one of the biggest clubs in the ‘Championship’ during the coming season, and they’ve decided to boost their viewing figures by selecting our first two league games for live coverage.

Our first game against Derby will be shown live on BBC1 and will now kick off at 5.15pm on Saturday August 7, while our visit to Forest has been put back to 1.15pm on Sunday August 15 and will be broadcast by Sky

And for entirely different reasons, our trip to Cardiff City, originally scheduled for Monday January 3, has now been put back to Tuesday January 4 (7.45pm), at the insistence of the South Wales Police. Obviously they want to make it as difficult as possible for Leeds fans to get there, in the hope of avoiding any bother.

A side effect of the change is that we will now have to pay 20% VAT on match tickets, as the new rate comes in on the 4th, when VAT would have been 17.5% if it had been played on the 3rd. It remains to be seen whether they will make this a ‘bubble’ match, where Leeds fans have to travel on special coach services to be able to get tickets.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
