Another twist in Dawson transfer saga

Dale's Craig Dawson has made another transfer request. No he hasn't. Yes he has, but we've said no. It's another day in the Craig Dawson summer transfer saga with cloak and dagger stuff on all sides.

It's been twenty four hours of conflicting stories with regards to Craig Dawson. Sky Sports had their "Sky Sports sources understand...." hat on again on Monday with the news that Craig Dawson had made a second request to leave Spotland.

But a "Dale insider" got on the case early on Tuesday morning to insist that no transfer request had been made, and that the Sky Sports Sources Understanding machine was just your usual paper talk, and how Dawson was the happiest man on the planet to remain at Spotland.

A third twist came about when the club admitted that Dawson had made a second transfer request, but it had for the second time been turned down by the club, with the club adamant that they will not be forced under any circumstances to sell Dawson on the cheap, just because Middlesboro would rather have it that way.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
