No vuvuzelas please, we're British!

There'll be dancing in the streets tonight from Guisley to Garforth, at the wonderful news that vuvuzelas will be banned from Elland Road during the coming season.

Arsenal and Spurs were the first English clubs to ban the wretched things, and Burnley and Norwich have become the first in our division to follow the north London giants. Thankfully, Ken Bates has now come out in sympathy, as he told Yorkshire Radio.

"We won't be having them. We'll be firm. If anyone brings them they will be thrown out. They are a dreadful noise, and frankly we can do without it. I like all the Leeds songs and the atmosphere our fans create without those awful things."

I don't agree with a lot of what Ken Bates has to say, but I'm right with him on that one. These horns are extremely irritating and I'd much rather listen to the traditional English matchday atmosphere. The only people who would be likely to bring a vuvuzela to Elland Road would be those who have never been to a match before in their lives, and if they did I'm sure there would be plenty of others telling them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

I'm surprised that Ken likes ALL the Leeds songs, but it's nice to know that when we chant "we want a team and not a hotel" he'll be able to hear us loud and clear!

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
