Is Darius the man for Grayson?
Leeds have been linked with an ambitious move to recruit former Aston Villa, Manchester City and England striker Darius Vassell.
The 30-year-old is without a club having left Turkish side Ankaragucu andf the Daily Mail report that Leeds are prepared to offer him a deal.
Vassell is wanted to replace Jermaine Beckford, however he is not what I would call a prolific goalscorer. He has earned 22 England caps and scored 6 goals, ironically he made his England debut on the same day as another low-scoring, West Midlands born striker Michael Ricketts.
However at Championship level he would surely be worth a punt if his wages are affordable. Personally I think we should have gone for Marlon Harewood, who recently left West Ham for Blackpool on a free. Surely we would be able to compete with the Seasiders? who despite the histronics over their win against Wigan on Saturday will only be in the Premiership until next May.
Vassell had a torrid time in Turkey and due to the financial constraints of the Ankaragucu club, even had to pay his own hotel bill. Hopefully Uncle Ken will book him into the Premier Inn near to ER and we can relieve our striking woes - with Billy Paynter yet to make a competitive start and in-form Luciano Becchio now being linked with Celtic as his Leeds contract runs out next summer.
