Nott Again! - Third Davies Bid Rejected As Derby Secure Future!
Nott Again! - Third Davies Bid Rejected As Derby Secure Future!
Thursday, 20th Jan 2011 03:23 by Daniel J Sewart

It seems that Notts County have once again turned down an improved offer from Derby for midfielder Ben Davies on the day DCFC secured some of its talent of tomorrow.

It has been widely reported that the original offer was in the vicinity of around £250,000 with the second offer an unreported improvement on that figure. Both were rejected by Chairman Ray Trew.

It is believed, according to various media sources, that the third offer made by the Rams is much closer to the Magpies valuation of Davies which could be around the £500,000 mark.

Paul Ince has been throwing his rattle out of the pram about the whole situation and will no doubt surface again to say how naughty the Rams are and how they are disrespecting the player and club etc, etc. Something to look forward too then.

Nigel Clough spoke to BBC Radio Derby about the situation and was remaining upbeat and confident that he would get his man:

"We are getting closer and we are working as fast as we can."

Hang in their Nigel and you will get your man!

Rams Youngsters Sign New Deals

Jeff Hendrick (pictured) and Ryan Connolly have both signed new one-year contracts to extend their stay until 2012 after receiving their first professional contracts at the start of the 10/11 season.

Both have shown enough on the training track and second tier games for Nigel to want to extend their stay and see if they have what it takes to make the jump to first team football.

Clough spoke to the official DCFC site about the boys:

"We are pleased both Jeff and Ryan will be with us for another year and we hope they continue to develop. Jeff has been involved with the first-team squad in the last two months and has been performing well for the reserves, where he has shown he is developing as a player”.

"Ryan has been so unfortunate that he hasn't been able to build on the promising season he enjoyed last year because of injury, but we saw enough of him before his injury to suggest he has something to offer."

Perhaps one of the pair or both could be the next Tom Huddlestone or Miles Addison. Whatever the case both have been given the opportunity and I am sure all Rams fans wish them well as they strive to succeed at Derby.

Good Luck Boys!
