Adkins As Safe As Houses !
Adkins As Safe As Houses !

The bookies feel that he is anyway.

Nigel Adkins is 19th out of 24 in the betting stakes on the first manager to leave his club in the Championship this season, this betting of course doesnt just reflect his odds of being sacked, but could factor in whether the manager could be in line for being poached by another club, or indeed be likely to resign due to circumstances.

Its good to see though that the bookies feel that Adkins is safe, although at 20/1 and given what happened a year ago, it could be a reasonable outside bet for those who fancy making a few quid.

The bookies favourite is Andy Thorn at Coventry City, surprising in that he was only appointed at the end of the 2010/11 season so is barely into the job, behind his is ex Saints boss Nigel Pearson and then Pompey gaffer Steve Cotterill, the latter perhaps reflecting putting money not on a manager likely to be sacked but on one who is likely to walk out.

At the rear those who the bookies feel are safer than Adkins are Gus Poyet & Tony Mowbray plus Kenny Jackett  at Millwall followed by Malky Mackie at Cardiff who just being appointed obviously will be given a reasonable amount of time.
