Lavery Set for Kilmarnock
Lavery Set for Kilmarnock

TWTD understands that former Academy striker Caolan Lavery is on the verge of joining SPL side Kilmarnock. The Northern Ireland U21 international turned down a Blues contract at the end of his Academy scholarship in October.

Since leaving Portman Road, Lavery has spent time on trial at Sunderland, Leicester and Bradford, who were alerted to his availability by former Blues coach Brian Owen, who is now a scout at Valley Parade.

The Canadian-born frontman impressed the League Two club but we understand the Bantams were unable to agree compensation with Town and their interest subsequently waned.

In the weeks since then, Lavery has been training with Kilmarnock, who signed ex-Town Academy defender Rory McKeown last summer.

While Killie won’t have to agree a compensation deal in the same manner as another English club, FIFA rules include provision for training compensation to be paid in cross border moves.
