The Leveson enquiry rumbles on....meanwhile in Leeds its the Levi's.....

Leeds County Court has heard more revelations about the ongoing feud between Ken Bates and a former Leeds United director Melvyn Levi.

On day two of the hearing yesterday, chief executive Shaun Harvey took the stand and was forced to admit that Leeds United had spent "a fortune" in legal fees defending litigation against Chairman Ken Bates, often due to the content of his controversial programme notes.

Yesterday Mr Bates denied waging a "vendetta" against Mr Levy, including allegations that he made Levi look like a fugative with marriage problems.

The allegations stem back to December 2010 when Bates instructed his solicitors to serve a writ on Mr Levi. Having spotted him in a Leeds Restaurant, they backed off. However on visiting Mr Levi's home, his wife Carole was allegedly "evasive"about his whereabouts.

On Boxing Day, an announcement was broadcast on Yorkshire Radio appealing for listeners to come forward with any knowledge as to Mr Levi's whereabouts. Mr Bates also used his programme column on New Years day for the visit of Middlesbrough to repeat the appeal and apparently a "meal for two" was offered to anyone who successfully provided information as where Mr Levi was.

With Mr Levi apparently away from home, Bates' is alledged to have inplied that his marraige was in serious trouble - something the Levi's have denied.

Bates claims Levi and an associate owe Leeds United £190,400.

The hearing continues. Mr Levi seeks an injunction against Mr Bates from being harrassed and also further damages to the £50,000 he was awarded in 2009.

It is understood that the legal bill defending that case cost Leeds a reported £1.5m in fees.
