Austin Martin the driving force for Warnock?

Neil Warnock has been linked with Rodolph Austin of Sk Brann and free agent Martin Crainie is the latest player to train with the whites'. Warnock has also confirmed there has been interest in Ross McCormack and revealed he almost quit Leeds over the collapse of the Joel Ward transfer.

It has been a welcome day of transfer speculation to take our minds off the takeover. Rodolph Austin, the 27- year-old Sk Brann and Jamaica midfielder has been linked with a cut price move to Elland Road which could cost us as little as 150k according to one report.

If Austin did arrive it would be third time lucky as far as English football is concerned. Failure to obtain a work- permit cost him a move to Stoke in 2008 and Warnock himself ran the rule over him whilst at QPR, but baulked at Brann's £2m valuation.

Brann could lose him for nothing in December, so may be forced to do a cut- price deal.

One player who has arrived at Elland Road is Martin Crainey. Crainey quit Coventry at the end of last season and has accepted an offer from Leeds to train with us, similar the news yesterday that Andy Gray has linked- up on similar terms.

On the outgoing front, Warnock revealed that there have been offers for Ross McCormack as well as others, but they will only move on if the deal suits Leeds. Top scorer McCormack is wanted by Crystal Palace, Bristol City and Huddersfield according to reports. McCormack has snubbed the offer of a new deal at Leeds and looks certain to quit.

Warnock today revealed that he too almost walked away from Elland Road when Leeds missed out on Joel Ward in May. Embarrassingly the whites' could not muster the £400,000 Portsmouth wanted for Ward so he moved to Crystal Palace instead. Warnock revealed it was his son James, who lives in Leeds and the fans who persuaded him to stay on, citing the 7-3 game against Nottingham Forest as sticking in his memory of how loyal the Leeds followers are!
