Another takeover bid in the offing?
Another takeover bid in the offing?

Saturday's visitors Birmingham City are also up for sale and it was rumoured Neil Warnock's former boss at QPR Gianni Paladini saw them triumph at ER, however unfortunately for Leeds our own dear owner is in no rush to leave.

It will be an interesting barometer to compare the likely sale of Birmingham City in the next few weeks to our own "takeover" in particular the timescale. Current Blues owner Carson Yeung is stuck in his native Hong Kong awaiting money-laundering charges and his business empire has crumbled.

Ex QPR chairman Palladini emerged on the horizon as a potential Blues buyer last month, however other reports put a Hong Kong/Chinese consortium in pole position to meet Yeung's £40m price tag on the club whereas Palladini values it at just £25m.

Meanwhile Ken Bates used his Yorkshire Radio address not to update us how the task of clearing his office is coming along but to have a moan about journalists, in particular the National's Duncan Castle. Bates ridiculed the South African based journalist by reading out an email sent to GFH Capital's David Haigh from Castle apologising for several things including "insulting Islam" (I thought that kind of thing carried a death sentence?).

Mr Chairman also confirmed that several of his new found friends from the Gulf were his guests for the Birmingham game (so we did not have to read it in the papers) and they were struggling with the cold Yorkshire climate.

There were some sporadic "Bates Out" chants which would have been heard in Ken's plinth high in the East Stand Upper but nothing on the scale of this seasons Hull City game and last seasons visit of Ipswich and Middlesbrough.
