Leeds have allowed Danny Pugh to move to Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the rest of the season.

Dave Jones, who famously branded Leeds fans "vile animals" and criticised the Leeds players for applauding the fans at the end of the bad-tempered 1-1 draw in October is clearly not in a position to be choosy as Wednesday face yet another return to League One. Pugh was not in the side that night. He has been a peripheral player all season and Leeds have been trying to offload him since the summer. He has been involved just six times this season, mostly as a sub.

Pugh, 30, is in his second spell at the club having originally signed in 2004 as part of the controversial deal that took Alan Smith to Old Trafford, he has also played for Preston and was re-signed on a permanent deal from Stoke in last January's transfer-window.

I know he is ridiculed by many Leeds fans but I don't think he is as bad as some people make out, he can play at left-back or in midfield and typical of our present squad lacks any significant pace.

The club have not announced whether or not Pugh will eligible on April 13th when we play the Owls but nowadays it is standard practice to insert a so-called "embarrassment clause" which prohibits a loanee to play against his parent club.<
