Leeds reject third bid for top-scorer.

Interest is hotting up in Luciano Becchio as Leeds today revealed they had rejected a third bid for the 19-goal-striker.

On Thursday it was claimed two bids from overseas clubs had failed to tempt Leeds to cash in on one of their prized assets. Becchio responded by slapping in a transfer request.

Clearly if no satisfactory bid is received in the next six days, the player will remain at the club until the summer. He is under contract until June 2014.

Many fans are philosophical about his imminent departure. We have had five good years service out of him and although he has scored 19 times this season, overall he is not a great player and I'd happily take £3m for him at 28.

Others see it as yet another miserable failure of keeping our better players and betrayal by the new-owners, however Neil Warnock has described the offer made to Becchio by Leeds as "a Premier League contract".

With better service, he might score a decent haul in the top flight but personally I feel he lacks the pace and skill to be a 20-goal-a-season man.

He might even head to China, according to former loan defender Alan Tate then it would be about the money, however this probably will be his last big payday!
