Swans captain Garry Monk declares that the pressure is firmly on the other teams chasing promotion

It sounds an obvious statement when you are eleven points clear but the skipper just re-iterated the fact that it is totally down to others to worry about how the Swans are getting on rather than the other way around.  And with Carlisle and Nottingham Forest about to exchange a double header within a fortnight the Swans could find themselves in a perfect position going into March - one that they don't look anywhere near relinquishing.

Unbeaten in the league since the middle of November, unbeaten away from home since the end of September and closing in on the club record of unbeaten league games (19) the Swans are in the mood to potentially make this their best season in a 96-year history thanks to a string of hugely impressive performances.  The past 23 games have yielded an incredible 56 points whilst Roberto's 43 league games in charge have earned us 91 points and some bookies have already stopped taking bets on us winning the League One title.

And with that in mind you would be forgiven for seeing some real confidence coming out of the dressing room although to be fair this isn't exactly overflowing with comments that the job is done - again testament to the message planted by the manager.

But Monk told the Evening Post that despite those messages not being forthcoming, the pressure is firmly off the Swans "It was important we got the win this weekend with the Doncaster and Carlisle games getting called off

"They have seen that we've added another three points to our total and they know the pressure is on them to go out and win when they play their games.

"And if we can continue winning, there will be even more pressure on the rest. They must have looked at the results this weekend and thought 'Oh, Swansea have won again, we're going to have to try to catch up again'.

"I think we play before everybody else against Luton on Friday night and, if we can get another three points there, that will mean more pressure for the other sides who are up there.

"We genuinely don't believe we've achieved anything yet.

"We're looking to get points on the table every week and only when we've got a P next to our name on Sky Sports News will we say we're promoted.

"Nobody will be getting carried away because we know we've got a job to do. We will keep on pushing until it's mathematically achieved.

"The league is the priority obviously, but we want to win the Johnstone's Paint as well now we've come this far," Monk added.

"The chance to play at Wembley is only two games away, and that's a fantastic carrot."
